Magnesium Hydroxide Flame Retardant

Magnesium hydroxide is a new type of filling flame retardant. It starts to decompose at 330°C, with the fastest decomposition rate at 430°C, and completes decomposition at 490°C. By releasing bound water through thermal decomposition, it absorbs a large amount of latent heat to reduce the surface temperature of the synthetic materials filled with it in flames. It has the function of inhibiting polymer decomposition and cooling the combustible gases produced. The decomposed magnesium oxide is also a good refractory material, which can help improve the fire resistance of synthetic materials. Additionally, the released water vapor can act as a smoke suppressant, characterized by non-corrosive halogen gases, harmful gases, non-volatility, long-lasting effect, non-toxicity, smokelessness, and no dripping. It is an excellent flame retardant with triple functions of flame retardancy, smoke suppression, and filling.
